A quick review of the year.
The BATFE, in keeping with all government organizations, has decided not only to make a grab for everything, but also apparently feels that it isn’t necessary to justify its actions either. The agency was supposed to finish their case twice or three times this year at the urging and frustration of the judge hearing the case. Three times they’ve been granted another continuance. So we’re still up in the air. To add insult to injury, they’ve been visiting their brand of trouble on motor vendors and have even started going after igniter manufactureres as well. Hold on to your hats, folks.

In case you hadn’t heard, we’ve lost the use of the Tickwood Ranch field. The beef rancher across the road felt that we were disturbing the cows. There ya go. Thank-you Dave & Carol for your hospitality! It’s been fun!

If you have any leads however small to a good field, please let us know!

We held two contests this year, and a cook-up. Sorry there’s no data available for the second contest; it hasn’t been forwarded to me so I’m not able to add it to the web site. There are also a couple of months of launch reports missing. I have one log to do then everything that I have will be on display.

For 2007, we’ve a display in the cases again this year at the Library. Randall and Taylor Jessee have quite a display of Star Wars collectables in the case. Bob has a few competition and scale models, as well as a few of my more presentable models.

The plan right now is to meet on the 27th of January to collect our models from the display cases and select new officers for 2007, pick out contest events and set a flying schedule. Hopefully Dave B. will be able to update us on the trailer and provide a plan for it so we’ll have it for use this coming season.

Note also the first launch of the year is on the 20th at Shawnee Mission Park. We can hope for nice weather. If the members could get together and discuss some of the ideas for the year and hammer out who they’d like to nominate and make suggestsion for selecting contest events that, would give us a leg up and make the meeting shorter, too.
